Blinded by Compassion

‘Pandora’ is a 7.5x7.5x7.5-inch MDF cube light sculpture with compassionate and complimentary words laser-cut into it, such as Beautiful, Strong and Thoughtful. At the centre is a light that casts the words blurrily onto the environment. 

‘Pandora’ is a dual exploration of commentary, how people soak up negativity while allowing positivity to fade and blur. The work explores how inhuman atrocities can be combatted with positive intervention. A rendition of the Greek myth Pandora’s Box, it is a reflection on the evils being released into the world once the box has been opened, but under the lip is a tiny bit of hope.
